Director of Commmunity Engagement

Rabindra hails from a vibrant South Asian cultural background, is a fluent speaker of Nepali and Hindi. His passion for cultural diversity, social and racial justice issues, and mental health and healthy relationships is deeply rooted in his cultural beliefs.

Rabindra has completed Bachelor’s Degree in Optometry from Tribhuvan University and Master’s Degree in Clinical Optometry from India. Recently, he added another feather to his cap by graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Currently, he is a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician and Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener.


His commitment to community services is equally vital, with over ten years of active involvement in various capacities in the Nepalese community, locally in the Region of Waterloo and nationwide.

Rabindra's work with youth has always been a source of inspiration and admiration. He had the privilege of working with many youth and has always been impressed by their confidence, skills, and abilities. Rabindra, truly believes are truly remarkable, particularly when learning of the young people’s personal circumstances, many of which are incredibly challenging. He takes it as an honour to be in the Board of Youth in Action serving as a Director of Community Engagement. He is very excited to work with youth from the Waterloo Region. Rabindra admires the innovative, yet challenging action the YIA has planned for the youth of the Waterloo Region, a testament to his belief in their potential and the power of youth engagement.
