Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion


Anju is a dedicated environmental professional with over a decade of experience spanning environmental conservation, climate change, adaptation practices, impacts of urbanization and natural hazards, particularly focusing on water resources. She has led projects on climate change adaptation practices, impacts of natural hazard such as earthquake on water resources, documentation of Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPAs) under National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA) in Nepal as a Program Officer with Jalshrot Vikas Sanstha/Global Water Partnership. Anju has used her expertise on stakeholder consultations and resource dissemination in international platforms such as presenting research outputs in international seminars.

Academically, she has Master's degrees in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, Natural Resource Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Norway, and Master’s in Environmental Studies from the Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada.


Lately, Anju has been more engaged with environmental data extraction, data transformation and data analysis. She leverages a robust comprehension of research methodologies and techniques, especially when transforming research inquiries into exhaustive search strategies for scholarly articles and web contents.


As a former Research Assistant at Wilfrid Laurier University, Anju was engaged in identifying key indicators of food insecurity in Northwest Territory, Canada. In her current role, as a Data Manager at Global Water Future Program at Wilfrid Laurier University, she is managing Laurier’s research data to promote FAIR Principles – Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability. 


Anju has also worked as a team member of the Saskatchewan Environmental Society (SES) in Saskatoon, with volunteering experience in environmental initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to environmental advocacy and community engagement. When she is not working, she truly enjoys spending her leisure time reading books, gardening, listening to music, and traveling with her family. 


Anju is very much looking forward to working in the dynamic team of Youth in Action. She strongly believes, with her professional experience and passion in the field she would be able to persuade the youth of the Waterloo Region to be real Change Agents for Climate Change Actions and take environmental stewardship.
